Another great post, Isabelle. It makes me want to move back to the north. I've lived in London since the 1980s and still find the way people you pass on a quiet street don't greet each other (especially when I come back from visiting my family in the north! The novel I'm working on now is underpinned by the idea of making life better through developing a sense of community and by showing kindness ie the northern way!
It's so strange how big cities become impersonal isn't it!! Definitely starting to notice MCR becoming more like London though in culture - not necessarily in spirit, but the overcrowding is starting. Love that - we could all do with some more kindness! xx
